The right room can completely change a family holiday and over the years, we’ve built up quite the little black book of the ones worth knowing about.

Proper bedrooms. Doors that close. Space to unpack. Somewhere for the adults to sit once the children are asleep. Private pools, huge terraces, beachfront locations and, occasionally, a suite so good you’ll struggle to convince everyone to leave it.

So, what’s in our little black book?

In Greece, we know the Ikos suites worth upgrading to, the Domes room categories that work brilliantly for larger families and the Grecotel options where you can have space without losing that gorgeous resort feel.

​

In Spain, there are family suites and villas that give you the freedom of your own space while keeping the restaurants, pools, kids' clubs and service of a luxury resort just outside your door.

​

Cyprus has some brilliant options for bigger families too particularly when two bedrooms, a proper living space and a private pool are high on the wish list.

​

Then there’s Mauritius, where family suites can be wonderfully generous. Separate sleeping spaces, tropical gardens and enough room to settle in properly make that longer journey suddenly feel very worthwhile.

In the Maldives, knowing the right villa category is everything. Some of our favourites have two proper bedrooms, private pools and direct access to the beach, all the magic of the Maldives, without four people sharing one room.

Dubai takes family suites to another level, with vast residences, interconnecting rooms and multi-bedroom options hidden inside some of the city's best-known resorts.

​

And the Caribbean? This is where things can get seriously good. Beachfront suites, two and three-bedroom residences, huge terraces and villas made for families travelling together.
