Private, please
Why flying private might not be as expensive as you think.

Private jet.
Two words that immediately conjure up images of celebrities in baseball caps, tiny dogs in cashmere and people for whom “summering in the South of France” is an entirely normal sentence.
But here’s the thing.
Flying private might not be quite as ridiculous as you think.
No, we’re not suggesting swapping your £39 Ryanair flight to Alicante for a Gulfstream but when you start looking at the whole cost of a trip, particularly when there’s a group of you travelling, things can get interesting.

Two families heading away together. A multi-generational holiday with grandparents. Three families sharing a villa. A big birthday somewhere fabulous.
Suddenly, you’re not looking at the cost of flying four people privately.
You’re splitting an aircraft between eight, ten or twelve people.
Compare that with multiple business-class tickets, luggage, seat reservations, airport parking, hotels for inconvenient flight times and everything else that mysteriously attaches itself to the cost of travelling and the gap can start to look rather different.
Still a splurge? Absolutely.
Completely impossible? Maybe not.
Then there’s the actual experience
Forget arriving three hours before departure.
Forget the 5am alarm because the only flight available leaves at 7:10am.
Forget strategically packing snacks to survive the airport with three children.
Private aviation opens up smaller airports, more convenient departure points and far more flexibility around when you travel.
You arrive. You board. You go.
And when you’re travelling with children, grandparents, several families, or simply people who have collectively decided they are done with airport queues there’s something incredibly appealing about that.
The ultimate “shall we just…?”
Next time there are ten of you in a WhatsApp group trying to coordinate flights for that villa in Mallorca, ski trip to the Alps or long weekend somewhere gorgeous, ask the question.
“What if we flew private?”
It might be wildly over budget.
Or it might be the moment everyone gets their calculator out and says…
Hang on. How much each?
And suddenly, the impossible starts looking rather possible.
