The Family Luxe Guide to Africa
Wild places, unforgettable encounters and journeys that stay with you long after you’re home. From watching elephants at sunrise to exploring Cape Town and ending barefoot on the beach, Africa is a continent made for extraordinary trips. This is our edit of where to go, what to experience and the adventures we think everyone should do at least once.

SOUTH AFRICA
The perfect introduction
Cape Town, the Winelands, safari and the Garden Route. South Africa gives you an incredible amount in one trip. Brilliant food, beautiful hotels, wildlife and adventure make it one of our favourite ways to experience Africa, especially as a family.

SAFARI
Worth waking up early for
There’s nothing quite like seeing wildlife where it belongs. From the private reserves of South Africa to Kenya’s Maasai Mara and Tanzania’s Serengeti, the right safari is about much more than spotting the Big Five and choosing the right lodge can completely shape the experience.

KENYA & TANZANIA
For the really big adventure
Vast landscapes, incredible wildlife and some seriously special camps and lodges. Follow the Great Migration, take to the skies by hot-air balloon or combine the bush with a few days on the beach, this is bucket-list Africa.

THE BEACH
Bush, then barefoot
One of our favourite ways to do Africa. Follow the early mornings and game drives with somewhere beautifully slow. Zanzibar, Mauritius, the Seychelles or Mozambique. Adventure first, bare feet afterwards.

FAMILY SAFARI
Big adventures for little explorers
Africa with children can be magical when you get it right. Family-friendly lodges, junior ranger programmes, private game drives and guides who know how to bring the bush to life make this so much more than just another family holiday.

BEYOND THE OBVIOUS
Go a little further
Gorilla trekking in Rwanda, the waterways of Botswana, Victoria Falls, Namibia’s desert landscapes or a journey through Zambia. Africa rewards those willing to look beyond the classic routes and some of its most extraordinary experiences are found well away from the crowds.
